General qualifications include:
Degree (B.A./B.S.) in field of instruction is required.

Middle School Science Teacher:

Grace Academy is a K-12 Christian School located in Hagerstown Maryland. We are looking for a full-time Middle School (6-8) Science teacher to develop in each student an awareness of the role of science in society from a biblical worldview; to motivate each pupil to acquire knowledge of scientific facts and principals, and skills in scientific methods of problem solving; to discover and develop special God given talents of students in scientific fields, with a biblical world view. Teacher must be able to teach Life, General, Earth, and Physical Science. The science curriculum is based on Next Generation Science Standards.

TITLE: Athletic Director 

STATUS: 11-month, part-time 

REPORTS: Head of School 

SUPERVISES: Assistant Athletic Director, Coaches, Grade 6-12 Athletic Program 

The athletic director is responsible for managing all aspects of athletic programming in support of the school’s mission as it relates to the spiritual, physical, intellectual, social and emotional development of student-athletes at Grace Academy. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

Scheduling 

  • Coordinate scheduling of all athletic events for each sport 
  • Coordinate scheduling for usage gym and fields for practices and games 
  • Coordinate scheduling of game officials 
  • Arrange for a certified athletic trainer to be at home events 
  • Coordinate transportation for away games 
  • Organize pictures for all teams and individual athletes 

Personnel Selection and Supervision 

  • Supervise the assistant athletic director 
  • Supervise athletics both middle and high 
  • Provide vision for all athletic programs 
  • Provide vision for the out of season youth program 
  • Interview and select coaches using a hiring committee comprised of yourself, one administrator and, if possible, an existing assistant athletic person or veteran coach 
  • Supervise and evaluate all coaches 
  • Instruct the state mandated coaching principles/first aid class to coaches 
  • Organize and conduct mandatory coaches meetings 
  • Keep database of student athlete physicals and medical release forms 
  • Assign responsibilities and duties to the coaching staff as needed 

Finances 

  • Prepare and administer the athletic budget in coordination with Chief Financial Officer 
  • Oversee establishment and collection of athletic fees 
  • Plan and direct additional methods of revenue for athletic department in coordination with other departments 

Game Day/Facilities/Equipment 

  • Oversee appearance, maintenance and safety of athletic facilities in coordination with Facilities Supervisor (Mow field when needed, get baseball/soccer field ready to play when weather has made it unplayable) 
  • Coordinate game day set-up and tear down of facilities 
  • Coordinate coverage by designee for all concession stands 
  • Coordinate the selling of admission “tickets” to high school home games 
  • Ensure a safe learning/competing environment of gyms, fields and equipment 
  • Provide game-day management by attendance or coverage at all home athletic events 
  • Organize and maintain the inventory of all athletic equipment and storage areas 
  • Order necessary equipment for all sports 
  • Authorize purchase requisitions submitted by coaches 
  • Coordinate first aid kits and supplies 
  • Attend AD meetings and be responsible to the MDCC league by-laws 
  • Annual renewal of certification by MSPPAA as a non public school athletic program 
  • Comply with MPSSAA guidelines and by-laws 

Communication 

  • Ensure GA website is updated regularly with scheduling, results, directions, and schedule changes 
  • Create and maintain the GA rSchool Today athletic calendar, roster, coaches, and schedules 
  • Keep administration and faculty/staff informed of student involvement through rosters and departure times for games 
  • Work in conjunction with the Upper School Assistant Principal in the enforcement of academic eligibility 
  • Provide information for all school publications 

Banquets and Boosters 

  • Schedule and provide oversight for all athletic banquets 
  • Organize, develop, and coordinate with a booster organization 
  • Work with the boosters in the production of the sports banquet or other awards event 

Growth 

  • Explore and identify expansion possibilities in the areas of athletic offerings, facility upgrades, including programs, and new relations with school

Requirements 

ABILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS: 

The athletic director must be Christian who is mature in their faith and supportive of the school’s 

mission and doctrinal statements, serving as a role model to student-athletes. 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher 
  • Certified athletic administrator preferred (CAA) 
  • Statement of Faith and current application 
  • Maryland Form 486 completion, fingerprinting and background 
  • Prior athletic playing experience at the high school or college level 
  • Prior sports management experience, preferably in scholastic setting 
  • Basic personal computer skills

The Head of School shall:

 

  1. Hold or be in active pursuit of Master’s or Doctoral degree in Education/School Administration/ Educational Leadership from an accredited College or University.

 

  1. Have at least 3 years of administrative experience, preferably in an educational or non-profit organization.

 

  1. Have at least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an accredited public or non-public school.

 

  1. Reflect the mission of the school, which is “To enhance the God-given potential in each student through quality Christian education so they may be servants of Jesus Christ in the world”

 

  1. Foster good public relations. Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the general public.

  1. Supervise and evaluate the following positions:

 

  • Principal/Directors: support their role in establishing and maintaining a safe and disciplined school environment.

 

  • Instructional Staff: support their role in pursuing and maintaining an excellent college preparatory program of instruction and advisement.

  1. Be available to parents.

 

  1. Be willing to seek out donors for advancement of the school.

 

  1. Maintain the schools 501C3 status.

 

  1. Update and maintain the school’s profile on all education portals and sites accessed by the public, in particular, donor sites. 

 

  1. Hire school employees. (Board must approve Principals, CFO, Development Director)

 

  1. Dismiss school employees, if necessary.

 

  1. Counsel students and discipline all serious infractions (see handbook for specifics).

 

  1. If necessary, the head of school may suspend or expel students. 

 

  1. Attend district meetings and other conferences to keep school administration and board abreast of current issues, trends, and future events.
